Therapy
There is a common misconception that seeking help, in this case going to therapy, makes one "weak." Truth be told, asking for help demonstrates an incredible amount of bravery & resilience. Many of us are conditioned to believe that we must stuff our pain deep inside and move on. Not only can this be deeply harmful to our psyche, but our bodies also hold trauma & pain in such a way that can impact our health at large. My hope is to offer a safe space for you to navigate the story of your life, past and present, and begin experiencing homeostasis of mind, body & soul.
Psychodynamic, trauma-informed, somatic, object-relations, attachment, cultural sensitivity, and Body Liberation approaches are foundational to my therapeutic orientation. These, as well as others, assist me in approaching each individual through a holistic & intersectional lens.
During therapy sessions, we may explore:
Relationship struggles: codependency, maladaptive relational patterns, desire to belong/connect, discomfort with being single/alone, communication
History of abandonment, neglect, abuse, and other forms of trauma
Body image, self-acceptance, and sexuality/intimacy
Making peace with food & body: intuitive eating, feeling "out of control" around food, freedom from diet-cycling and compulsive exercise
Adolescents: self-esteem, social anxiety, sexuality, academic pressures, family dynamics, sibling rivalry, relationships
Mood: anxiety, depression, ADHD, (C)PTSD, postpartum depression, suicide, self-harm
Additional: perfectionism, inner-child/parts work, adult children of alcoholics, purity culture/religious trauma
Who I work with:
Adolescents (13-17)***
Adults (18+)
***In Washington State, minors may receive outpatient mental health treatment if they are 13 years of age or older without the consent of a parent/guardian. Clients 13 and older have the choice to consent to communications between myself and their parent/guardian, per RCW 71.34.530.
Please note: I am a "Mandated Reporter." I am also aware that the current systems in place to protect people, often harm people. Clients can expect a nuanced and mindful conversation if the following is reported to me: if you intend to harm yourself, others, or if someone is harming you.
These services are only available to those who reside in Washington State.
I provide clinical consultation services to fellow clinicians seeking guidance on providing competent care for clients/patients who may be struggling with disordered eating and/or eating disorders. My objective during this time is to empower, inform, and assist you in making ethical decisions on behalf of your client/patient and their care journey with you. I will provide you with resources and referrals upon request.
I have a great deal of experience and passion in helping families learn how to best support their loved ones who are in recovery for eating disorders.
These consultation services are strictly for caregivers/families who are committed to learning & unlearning societal misconceptions about health, food, and bodies.
These services are also for caregivers/families who are willing to do their homework - I will provide you with ample resources and assist you in brainstorming next steps for your loved one.
While these sessions will hold space for processing, I will require that you have a personal and/or family therapist while working with me - I am more than happy to provide you with resources to secure this support.
These services are available to all, regardless of geographic location.
